Professor Dr. Md. Abul Bashar, Treasurer, JKKNIU, has successfully completed his teaching career of almost 38 years (at the age of 65 years) on 4th October 2009 from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. In addition to teaching, research and extension, Dr. Bashar has served the University administration in different capacities:

  • Head of the Department of Agricultural Finance in several tenures (each tenure consisted of two years);
  • Provost in Student Hall for a tenure of two years;
  • Director, Planning and Development Committee for a period of two years;
  • Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology (academic head of the faculty) for a tenure of two years;
  • Member of the Syndicate (Highest Administrative body of University) during Deanship for almost the full tenure.
  • During teaching career, Dr. Bashar has been attended many seminars, symposiums, training workshops, academic visit both in and outside the country.

  • CONSULTANCY EXPERIENCES

  • Served initially as credit specialist and as team leader in a fishery project titled "Achieving Greater Food Security and Eliminating Poverty by Disseminating of Improved Carp Strain to Fish Farmers in collaboration with World Fish Center, Malaysia and the Bureau of Socioeconomic Research and Training (BSERT), BAU, Mymensingh, sponsored by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the period 2004-2006.
  • Worked as National Coordinator of the project titled “Coordinated Project on Generation of GIS-based Socioeconomic Data” jointly sponsored by the BARC and BSERT in 2000.
  • Conducted as Team Leader a research project on “An Investigation into the Poverty Alleviation Programme of BKB in a Selected Area of Netrokona District” sponsored by the BAURES, BAU, Mymensingh in 1999.
  • Worked as an Economist (credit expert) under Lagoon Consultant Ltd. Dhaka in preparing an Appraisal Report for the Royal Danish Embassy Dhaka in the year 1999 (two months). The projects appraised were (a) Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in Rice; (b) Agro-based women development Programme of Jana Kalyan Kendra; and (c) Poverty Alleviation through Parmaculture Education and Establishment of Eco-villages.
  • Worked as Credit Specialist on the project “An Economic Analysis of Financing and Organizing Riverine Fish Production in Bangladesh” sponsored by the BAURES, BAU, Mymensingh in 1996.
  • Worked as Credit Specialist in the Project titled “A study on the Privatization of Minor Irrigation in Bangladesh” jointly sponsored by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and International Irrigation Management Institute (IIMI), Sri Lanka during November 1993 – May 1995.
