Workshop on : Research Methods in Population Science
A workshop titled “Research Methods in Population Science” was held on 06 November 2025 to enhance participants’ understanding of scientific research approaches. The session was conducted by Dr. Md. Mosfequr Rahman, Professor of Population Science and HRD at Rajshahi University. He discussed both quantitative and qualitative research designs commonly used in population studies. The workshop emphasized practical aspects of data collection, analysis, and ethical considerations. Overall, the program was highly informative and strengthened participants’ research capacity in population science.

Population Growth: Challenges and Opportunities
A seminar titled “Population Growth: Challenges and Opportunities” was held on 05/11/2025. The keynote speaker was Dr. Md. Nuruzzaman Haque, Professor of Population Science and HRD at Rajshahi University. He highlighted the multidimensional challenges of rapid population growth, including pressure on resources, health, and employment. At the same time, the seminar emphasized potential opportunities such as demographic dividend through proper planning and human capital development. The session concluded with an interactive discussion, enriching participants’ understanding of population dynamics and development.

A seminar titled “Demographic Trends and Challenges in Bangladesh: Pathways to Sustainable Development” was organized by the Department of Population Science on 29 May 2025. The seminar featured insightful presentations and discussions led by two renowned professors from Dhaka University, who shared their expertise on Bangladesh’s evolving demographic patterns, emerging challenges such as population ageing, fertility transition, and urbanization, and their implications for sustainable development. The event provided an important academic platform for students and faculty to engage with contemporary population issues and explore evidence-based policy pathways toward inclusive and sustainable national development.
